위협을 느끼면 머리와 몸통 사이에서 취각을 내미는데, 진한 식초 비슷한 냄새가 난다. If swallowtail butterfly caterpillar is disturbed, it unveils osmeterium which is V-shaped tubular glands right behind the head of a larva. Osmeterium secretes a strong ordorous fluid whose smell likes vinegar.
